Dispersed.

The section of trail between Pearisburg and Daleville was quite different from what I was used to so far. The trail was rougher; more rocks, downed trees, and overgrowth plagued the way.

Lots of downed trees from a recent storm

There were also fewer hikers that I came across. I found myself between bubbles of people; I knew the people ahead of me and the people behind me. I figured I would just stay at my same pace and see whom I would run into. That turned out to be the right decision as I met new people and reunited with friends I hadn’t seen in a while.

The Virginia “Triple Crown” is in this section of the trail. Dragons Tooth, McAfee Knob, and Tinker Cliffs are all popular sights and are usually grouped together because of their relatively close proximity to one another.

This section of the trail was over 100 miles long, and it didn’t really feel like it. As each day passes, time has felt shorter. I am still having a blast. I am still meeting great and interesting people. I am still having fun. I am going to keep going.

I’m currently at mile 730 of the Appalachian Trail. This is my 57th day on the trail, and I took the day off in Daleville, VA.

Dude, don’t wish; just do it! Even if you just plan a section for the future, it’s 100% worth it.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog because I enjoy writing it!
